This is so true about having to wait for appointments , I have made her promise not to try anything with her back for now , my husband suggested nurofen before gym tomorrow but I said no as this will only mask the injury so her coach might think she is ok , so no meds before gym as I want them to see how painful it is , Im sure they know this already but they will be more inclined to ger her physio .MRI's in the UK and here are not something we get within weeks, it usually takes many months unless the issue is considered urgent. Back pain is rarley considered urgent.
@Scotsgirl do take her to the doctor, they can do oblique xrays to rule out fractures etc. An xray would also show slippage etc. Physio is a great thing for most back pain. Please have her stop any arching at all until you can get her looked at, tell her that "trying" things to see if they hurt is a bad idea for now.
