DD is in the very early stages of training 7. Tonight she showed me bruises on her lower arm/upper wrist from her grips. The grips are about 6 months old and are velcro. Do you think she's tightening them too much? Not enough? Or is it just a result of the new skills she's training?

Make sure she has a good set of wristbands. Could just be the newness of the skills causing unfamiliar friction. Have her coach check the grips for tightness and she what he/she has to say about it. Until then- invest in arnica ointment. Makes bruises feel and look better with a quickness.

My dd used to have bruises on her wrists from her grips and on her thighs from clearhip to handstands. She has adjusted something in her grips tightness and her clearhip technique to solve both of these problems but it took the better part of 3 months to fix. We iced the bruises when they were tender, but dd didn't seem to be bothered by it generally speaking. Looked horrible though! Definitely ask about the tightness of the grips and maybe try some prewrap and tape under the wristbands if they are very sore.
