Shawn Johnson ultimately failed in her comeback attempt after Dancing with the Stars. Last week, Louis Smith announced the intention to make a similar, but hopefully successful attempt. Can Smith get fit to enable qualification in March to this summer's Commonwealth Games? Who are the other English gymnasts trying to stop him getting a place?

Interesting blog. MAG in this country is so exciting at the moment and needs a great deal more attention. Thanks.

Re. Louis Smith... The team has such depth that he's going to have to be back at the top of his game to offer better scoring potential. I have absolutely no idea how long it takes to do that after a break, but other gymnasts have managed it after serious injury like an ACL, so maybe. The Common wealth games, in the absence of the two Dans, are his best chance for sure, but after that I can't really see them keeping a team spot for one apparatus when we have medal chances developing across the board.

It's still inspiring that he is going to try and if he doesn't make it, then it will just show people how hard it is. Good luck to him.
