Parents Comp Leo recommendations

Hey parents. Our gym is looking at changing our comp leo company after this season. Can you all tell me what companies you have liked? Thinking about quality of the suit, pricing, production time, how easy it is to work with the company, etc. I’m trying to put together a list of companies we might consider.

Snowflake Leotards was very easy for us to work with. We liked that all of their competition leotards can come in any team colors without extra cost. Of course, we also love their practice leotards (and we currently have some that have gone through 4 gymnasts and are still holding up well). They have long-sleeve competition leotards from under $100 to over $300. You can get fully custom leotards in any of those price ranges. Production time for custom competition leotards is usually 6-8 weeks. If you choose their value leotards, production time is as little as 2 weeks.

Our gym uses Higo. Their long sleeved Leo’s with lots of bling cost around $275-$350. They are super comfortable and fit true to size. All of the girls seem to really like wearing them.

They used gk in the past and all the kids hated the fit of them it ran extremely small and not much stretch so hard to get into so I wouldn’t suggest gk.

We keep leos for 2 seasons at a time. We have GK now and the girls all try to get stretched out hand me downs rather than order new because they are cut so tight in the arms and across the chest. They come on time but the fabric is too thick in some spots and see-through in others. The sparkle to price ratio isn’t worth it.

Practice/intrasquad leos are Quattro and they’re gorgeous and lined but the sizing felt random. I think the plan is that this was a trial and we’ll use them in the future for comp leos. They delivered fast.

We had Ozone and leos came with missing gems or gym logos and came very late. They fit great, they sparkle the best, and the fabric and lining were the best of any leos, but the risk of leo delays was really stressful. I think Ozone has grown too fast to be reliable.

I just saw a gym with Higos for the first time. I was impressed by how they looked. This is a gym known for low cost team gymnastics and usually their leos reflect that. It seems like they got a lot for their money.

We must have gotten lucky! Our Quattros were ordered in July-ish and came in late August.

Most of my daughter's leos over the years have been GK. They tried a few other ones that never seemed to work out, but always went back to GK. However, last year they switched to Sylvia P and my daughter and her teammates love it. Finding a bra that worked with it was a bit challenging, but she's definitely on the Sylvia P train now.

I love our Sylvia P leotards but they are very expensive. Another one to look into is Leanne Wong leos.

Just a heads up that there is a very lively thread active elsewhere with coaches chiming in on Ozone’s issues. of course I can’t verify it all but it does seem to validate everything we are saying here. Apparently among other things, people are claiming:

-their factories are closed until 1/13 which is causing delays of remade leos that shipped with problems
-there was a very big mix up in the factory between cheer mesh and gym leo mesh, so leos were made with the wrong fabric which is contributing to sizing issues
-ozone has understated the issues and the factory issues seem to be very widespread
-reps have also been touting team comp leos as made in the USA but they have actually moved production of them overseas which has been causing additional delays

Yeah, from what I’m seeing here, we won’t be considering Ozone. My list to look at right now is Sylvia P, Snowflake and Higo.

How do you like Little Stars? We are in Canada so GymGear is super popular here and a lot of gyms use them for competition suits too but we want to look at a few options.

Personally we have had 4 little stars outfits. Out of the 4, one of them was quite stiff and itchy but most girls loved it because of the sparkle. My DD has sensory issues and it was not her favorite but that is 1 kid out of 26.
We just got 2 new ones a week ago and they are sparkly, change colour in different light and seem way softer than they used to be so very hopeful they will be great. There is a style we had twice that have a plastic clip on the neck that is not popular with the athletes so something to consider when ordering but our gym keeps getting all their suits from that company for different ages and competive levels so they must think they are good.

We love Little Stars! My daughter has probably 15 of their tank Leos, and they are all gorgeous, lined, comfortable, and fit very well. We haven't had their comp Leos, but from the looks of them, they are equally beautiful and look like they fit just as well.

6 weeks is definitely not enough time. We order from Ozone in July and they come in late December. Do you know if you will even have them before the season is over?

I am probably wrong about when they were ordered I was not involved in ordering them at all. They are supposed to come in the next few days.

We love Little Stars! My daughter has probably 15 of their tank Leos, and they are all gorgeous, lined, comfortable, and fit very well. We haven't had their comp Leos, but from the looks of them, they are equally beautiful and look like they fit just as well.

Thank you for this response! We were just at a large competition this weekend and noticed some beautiful leos that were little stars. I was sitting with one of our board members who will be helping make the final decision and we agreed that we definitely need to look at Little Stars going forward.
