Sometimes? That’s when the high highs and low lows wear off and they realize it’s back to the practice grind. Whatever went well, there’s the pressure to do it again. Whatever went badly, there’s maybe only 2-3 practices to fix it before the next meet.

Mine also never eats a proper meal after a competition so it’s maybe low blood sugar, too.
 
Is it normal for kids to be emotional the day after a competition?
The competition was great but the next day DD was having a hard time with life and needed extra TLC. Wondered if this is common?
We experienced the same thing! My little one is only 7. I encouraged her to just let the feeling flow and it will settle. We didn't try to change it or suppress it. Told her that she'll need to remember it because at some point shes going to be so nervous to compete that she can draw on that memory of how amazing it is to do so and focus on it being amazing rather than her nervousness.
