My DD is working on a skill that is a requirement but doesn’t have it by herself yet. Close but still having a spot.
If she receives a spot during a meet that would be a .5 deduction. If she doesn’t compete the skill would be a .5 deduction because it’s a requirement.
Would you compete with a spot or not compete it if the deduction would be the same?
But if competed she could get the .5 and then any deductions that might come with the skill if applicable correct?

Personally, I would not compete the skill with a spot and compete something easier in place of it.

It might help if we knew which level. That would influence my (and possibly other ppl's) answer.

In Xcel, there are few "set in stone" requirements ... unless your gym has specific required skills.

Ah! Sorry! Platinum and the Kip.

I believe it's better to just not do it. If she does it with a spot, she'll get all the form deductions on top of the 0.5 spotting deduction.

However, at some gyms, it would not be a choice and she would be scratching bars until she could meet the requirements.
