Well our meet this weekend didn't go well at all. DD got her lowest score ever, but the judges were very hard too. DD hates those first thing in the AM meets and we had to be there at 7:30 am!! That's too early for me that's for sure.

The viewing area wasn't that good 4 long rows with no breaks in the rows so you had to climb over 25 - 50 people to get out.

The scores where supposed to be shown on a projection on a white sheet like fabric. Well it was so far from the viewing area you couldn't make out the info and then the sun hit it and that was that at the end of the 2nd rotation they gave the score people the hand held paddles but they only used them sometimes. They tried to put up a new white sheet in a different location. it was like watching the 3 stooges for an hour. when they were done it was futher away then the other one and you couldn't see it at all. I tried to zoom in with the video camera but still could hardly make out the scores.

I only know that my dd came in 5th on bars with a score of 8.45 and 12th AA with a score just over 33. somthing Couldn't read the rest

I don't think if the gym goes next year I will let DD go to that one. They still had practice the night before the meet. We had a 2 1/2 drive to get there which I went right after practice and arrived around 9:30pm the night before It was a long drive. The hotel was the best thing we did but there was a lacross high school team in the hotel too and they were running the halls until after 1pm (yes i did call the front desk but it didn't help much)

we got back about 3:30 pm and boy I don't know about DD but I'm glad we are back.

I hope our meet this weekend goes better. Its only an hour away but again we are getting a hotel as warm ups will be in the AM at 7:45. Way too early for me UGH!

The good news is that meet is over and just a bad memory. She didn't really do that badly, she placed and got some bling!!! I hate early starts to and bad venues just put a bad taste in your mouth.

Hopefully you can build up how well she actually did, comparitively and next week will be a better experience all around.

It doesn't sound too bad considering everything that was going on! I'm sure she was absolutely exhausted with practice the night before, getting to the hotel late, loud hallways, and an early meet- all of those things can really wear you out, especially when added to the nerves she was probably already feeling. Just chalk it up to a learn experiencing, everyone is going to have off days and it's better it happened now than waiting until states! She can figure out what went out, what she needs to work on, and how to be better prepared for next week. But really, she shouldn't be too hard on herself! A lot of girls would be thrilled with that kind of meet in the best circumstances!

Sorry that things went so bad. Sounds like it was very poorly organized. But one way to look at it, its only gotta go up from here..right? LOL. Sounds like even with the scores not being shown, and having practice the night before, plus travel time..noisey hall ect. that it didnt go too horribly bad. Im sure you are both glad to get it out of the way. Hopefully with the next meet only being an hour away, there will be more time to wind down the night before and get the much needed rest for the meet early the next morning. Hope her all the best. Keep us posted on how she does.
