DD has first HS meet tonight and she is excited. She is only a freshman and she has been chosen as one of the All Around Gymnasts to compete for the team. Only 2 gymnasts are All Around at any given meet. I'm told they have 4 girls that are listed as All Around gymnasts - she is one of the first string girls. I hope she doesn't disapoint. they are hoping her and the other girl will take 1st and 2nd.

Makes me nervous for her.

Team came in first - DD placed 2nd on Vault Her coach said she did really well.

She had a great time

HS gymnastic certainly is different and alot more laid back.

She did do her giants - they weren't the best but good enough. I don't know if my DD is the one to show a fhs-full is done but she does like to do that vault. ;)

Her scores

V - 8.65 - 2nd
Bars 7.40
Beam 8.0
Floor 7.30
AA 31.35

Im told these are great scores for High School as they judge events as though they are L9 so for a L7/8 routine getting in the 7's and 8's is good according to the coach.

I will have a video to come as soon as I get it in the computer LOL.

The floor is just mats on the floor basicly. That is what most HS use. Not spring at all that is why her floor routine has the big tumbling taken out and there are extra mats where tumbling is. unfortunatly they only practice on that floor about 2 hours before the meet other wise they are at one of the local gyms using a spring floor. Doesn't really prepare them for that floor thats for sure. it takes getting use to .

Those floors are tough to get used to, but so much better for their bodies that they get to use a spring floor most of the time. Her tumbling was very comparable to what I saw at the big HS invitational my team went to last weekend from the club level 7-9 girls. I think a handful attempted fulls and hardly anyone did a front pass with a salto. They are just so hard to rebound out of on those floors. It's also hard to juggle around USAG routines to fit all of the HS requirements to maximize scores.
Her bars looked great! Congrats to her on making the giants! Glad she is having fun with the experience, it's great for getting more confident with skills which can be very helpful at USAG meets as well.

Unfortunatly that is the floor type all the HS use except one who got a spring floor donated to them. Makes doing the floor hard. We do have a few meets hosted by the HS in the area that are having them at the local clubs so there is a spring floor to use. When that happens she will do all the bigger moves.

I think the leo looks great on her. definitly her color. Its hard to see all the details in the video but here is a close up of the Leo
In-Stock - Women's
