FIG question

I am trying to learn a little about FIG requirements. I know that this is the standard for international gymnastics settings and scoring, and that is about it. What exactly is FIG? Can anyone expain to me what the FIG settings are for each apparatus (WAG) and how often do these settings get changed (if ever)? How long will the current FIG requirements for equipment settings continue to be in use? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know of any possible changes to individual apparatus settings that may be coming with a new code of points? It looks like a new code of points is due in January of 2013...

No, no apparatus changes in terms of settings are anticipated. Tall gymnasts, however, may individually request a higher (but not wider) setting on bars if their toes hit the ground when hanging from the high bar. I've only ever seen it requested for one gymnast and she was European.
