My daughter is in 5th grade, Xcel Gold. Her practices are 5-8:30. The timing works out for her since school ends at 2:20, and starts at 8:15am. That gives her enough time to do homework, have a snack, hang out with friends, ect. Then go to gymnastics, come home, eat dinner, shower, bed by 9:30ish, and get up at 7:15 for school the next day.

We're a 5 min drive from her gym, but if we had a 30+ min commute, 8:30 would be cutting it too close.

I am having an issue with this as well. My 7yo daughter just finished her first year of competing Xcel bronze ( state was her last) she hasn’t even been team for a year, but I’ve already heard she is gonna be moving up to silver very soon when they call a meeting for team. ( this week or next?)
That being said, silver practices Monday-Wed-Friday from 6-9 I was told by another mom. The gym is 35-45 minutes from home.

Is this normal?? I can’t help but to think that is some questionable hours for a 7 year old who has school bright an early the next day? Why so late? She practices currently Monday-Wed-Friday 4-6. But 6-9?? That puts her bed time no earlier than ten, and that’s not counting a shower or meal after. Not sure what we’ll do if she “ moves up”.

Help! Thoughts anyone? :/

We had a 2 hour commute each way and our practice ended at 8:30-9 so what you do is you feed her in the car on the way home so she’ll be ready to jump in the shower and go to bed afterwards….my girls did this for their whole competitive careers, starting in 1st grade.

At my daughter's gym, most team practices end at 8:30pm. Only XB and L3-4 end earlier, at 7:45pm.
That ending time is a little later than I would like, and it took my daughter a bit of time to adjust to it. Fortunately we live very close to the gym, so she's usually in bed by 10pm. Also one of her practices is on Friday, so she can sleep in a little bit, otherwise she has to be up at 6am because school is far.
