What kind of permission do you need to have from the copyright holder of the music piece wanted to be able to use it in bigger competitions? How much are you allowed to edit? I´m going to nationals two years (finnish nationals that is) from now and started daydreaming about my music but the one my club uses is not inspiring AT ALL.

I'm a little confused. You're going in 2 years? or you hope to qualify? and wouldn't you have music already for level 7, 8, 9, 10 before getting there? Your club makes everyone use the same music? Sorry, but something doesn't make sense. There is a world of floor music out there on youtube, floorexpress.com, and many others. Google it and see, you will probably find what you want, or something else equally good. I'm still trying to figure this out, though. Maybe you could explain more.

i don't think ascap will be an issue where you live. lol.:)

Hoping to qualify, positive thinking going on over here :D . We dont have levels, we have more like age groups (where we learn the same moves you americans do but we just dont "level" it). So like can u just take some music of youtube that would be suitable and use it? or does like copyright laws and such prohibit it? Yeah i was (and am) sick when i wrote this so i totally understand your confusion. The floormusic i now use is made by a local orchestra/band which i got permission to use. But its not really suitable for gymnastics so thats why im out looking for something new. Hope that clears all confusion :) :)

Hope you make your dream. You can look on Youtube and as long as you get permission from it's creator (the Youtube artist) you can use it.
Click here for some music I've made :)
