What are the highest skills you've seen competed at competitions for Xcel diamond? preferably on each event, this is my first year Xcel diamond and I want to know what the competition is like, especially the higher end athletes.

Here are some of the things I've seen in Diamond the last 2-3 years.

Vault: Handspring on 1/1 Off was most popular, with some 1/1 on-1/2 off, a couple Tsuk - Back Tuck, a Yurchenko - 1/1, and a Yurchenko - Back Tuck.

Bars: Lots of Giants and CH-Handstand, giant 1/2, Toe on hecht, 1/2 pirouettes, 1/1 pirouettes, Straddle cuts, Uprises, straddle backs, Flyaway 1/2, Flyaway 1/1, one double back, and one toe on front dismount.

Beam: BWO-BHS, CW-RO, RO-BHS, FWO-FHS, Valdez, Back Tuck (1), Aerial (1), lots of switch leaps, split jump 1/2, cat leap 1/1, wolf 1/2, and straight jump 1/1, one switch side, one straddle 1/2, and on tuck 1/1, Arabian dismount, back layout 1/1, gainer layout 1/1, and a gainer tuck off the end of the beam.

Floor: ROBHS-Full, FT-FP, FT-FT, FT-FLO, FP-FLO, FT-Front 1/1, RO-BHS-Whip-Lay, and one RO-Whip 1/2-Front 1/1, Split jump 1/1, Switch side, Straddle 1/1, wolf jump 1/1, Shush, Shush 1/1, 2/1 turn, 3/2 turn w/ leg @ horizontal, and one 3/1 turn.

Also worth noting higher end diamonds at the top tier would probably now do sapphire versus diamond so overall the highest skill level you’ll mostly see in solid level 7-8 skills from what I’ve heard from teammates.

Is there an inherent difference in scoring? Are higher difficulty routines scored higher? Asking because I'm doing the bare minimums of diamond (low bar clearhip, high bar clearhip to flyaway, CW - RO - tuck on beam, RO layout and FHS-FT on floor, and 1/2 on 1/2 off on vault)

Higher difficulty as in higher SV

There is no bonus until Sapphire ... where basic SV is 9.60 with up to 0.40 bonus.

I believe you need a B salto on floor unless I'm mistaken so you'd be starting at a 9.5

You can also do RO B Layout, Front Pike, and a roundoff backhandspring or another double flight acro pass if you have the time/space in your routine. Talk to your coach though
Hmm, probably not. I don't have time in my routine nor do I think I'll have the cardio to do that. Plus, my FHS - salto is better than my standalone FP for sure.

Lol, yah. Most of the higher-level skills I saw were from girls who also competed for their high schools (Level 8 rules with special high school bonus) and were event specialists on one or 2 events during the high school season, and those were pre-Sapphire existence at YMCA Regionals and Nationals a couple years ago. I think one had been training Level 9 when her club gym closed, and she (and half her team) switched to a YMCA gym in their area. She had previously been Top 3 at Level 8 State AA (2nd on Bars and Beam). Since her Y didn't have any L9s and their L8s had graduated the year before, she decided to compete Xcel.

Lol, all 3 of my gymmies (2 former and 1 current) have asthma. Their lungs couldn't handle long routines. OG maxed out at 1:15 with enough "fluff" to only need 2 passes.
YG had routines between 37 seconds and 58 seconds in Gold and Platinum.
LSS routines are usually 50-57 seconds (with the last 3-8 seconds on the ground doing floor stuff, ending in her splits).

Mine's 1:15 too! I wouldn't mind adding more choreo to it, but another pass would probably not be very pretty haha.
When OG had the 1:15, she started on the floor for the first 7 seconds, and spent the last 7 seconds on the floor.
Adding another pass would have been very rough for any of my girls, so I understand!
Good luck.
