Injury For the coaches -- getting back to spotting after injury/surgery

After a year of gradually-increasing back problems and gradually-decreasing spotting ability, yesterday morning I had surgery to remove a disc fragment from my lower back. I've never had back surgery before, and have no idea what to expect in terms of recovering and getting back to being able to spot properly.

I guess I don't have any particular question, just curious to hear anybody else's experiences coming back after significant surgery.

One of my former coworkers had a shoulder surgery and then got the break of COVID closures for extra rest, but I know he was very intentional about his spotting technique after that.

Good luck in your recovery. Be diligent in your PT, but don't push it.
One of our coaches was in PT for 12+ weeks before being allowed to spot again ... but she was encouraged to wear her back brace for a little extra support. She spotted for 2 years after that, but now she leaves it to the younger coaches and her husband.
