Hi wonder if any coaches/ parents can help with training ideas while dealing with a broken ankle (11 year old comp gymnast- 4 weeks in a cast). Just doing conditioning is pretty boring! We are focussed on handstand shapes and core conditioning and hopefully we can add in handstands and flexibility as it heals. Any other ideas would be gratefully accepted! i'm thinking we should make some measurable goals such as increasing number of pull ups and how long holding a handstand against the wall etc but I'm pretty short on ideas. I'm worried about how soft her hands will become and how much they will suffer on bars once she gets back on. I'm sure other people have been in similar situations. Thank you so much

My son broke his ankle, and was in a boot for like 6-8 weeks. He wore a weight on the other ankle and did swings over the pit on high bar and rings. HE did lots of core work, strength, handstands, etc. Obviously, as a boy, he could do some things on rings, high bar, pbars and pommel, but really he focused on strength, shapes, and conditioning. It helped a ton when he was coming back!
