Well, yesterday they did a new commercial for the gym, and they shot a segment of Morgan doing bars, and also a tumbling pass on the floor. Morgan is our gyms only L10. She helps coach the little teamies, and got a full scholarship to college for her gymnastics. Giving her background when they filmed her doing her bars and floor, on both they shot it about 6-7 times. They explained to the girls that everyone makes mistakes. Its not a sign of how good, or bad you are at the sport. That gymnastics is a sport where in all truthfulness, you will mess up a routine (even if its just a tiny bobble) alot more often than nail it. That its normal. It happens to everyone. Very few folks can say they have recieved a perfect score for a routine they have done, and God Bless them if they have. (not taking away from that at all) Just saying making mistakes is part of the sport. And even someone who has been doing it for 12 years gets frustrated with themselves about it. but that you shake it off and try harder next time. You could see her getting upset when they would tell her to "do it again Mo". She would kinda drop her head, but only for a second..and when she would raise her head back up, you could see the determination in her eyes. The kid went through this 6-7 times before it was good enough. I just thought it was a really good lesson to teach them. In a nut shell, and hopefully i dont come off to brash. Lesson: No matter how good you are, there is a really good chance you will mess something up in a routine. And dont take it personaly, dont beat yourself up about it. Just regroup, refocus, and give it your all..thats all you can do
