I messed up too. OP specifically said it wasn't who I thought it could have been but I posted it b/c I missed that comment. It's still fun to guess. My latest guess is that it either wasn't for the US or it just wasn't true. (maybe a back-up or maybe one of the more obscure gymnastics events...)
