I'm a sophmore and this is my second year of gymnastics. It's really challenging starting a competitive sport this late, but my team and I our like family. They've helped me a lot this past year, but, I have a problem with this year's team. Tons of more girls want to join, and it is hard to stay confident with more competition. I also havent vaulted in months because I've gotten hurt on it three times. I know overcoming fear is huge in gymnastics, but I'm just asking for some positive reinforcement. I'm not alone here, right!?

You're definitely not alone! I can't think of one single gymnast who hasn't had to overcome a fear or two - or a hundred. It is the nature of the sport, but that's what makes it so rewarding. I developed a huge fear of vault at one point, as well, but once I got over that vault was my highest-scoring event. I have no doubt that this fear is something you can work through.

Don't worry about all the new girls joining the team. Think of them as your support system and your source of encouragement, rather than your competition. Focus on your own progress and just loving what you're doing. :)

Best of luck! Update us at some point and let us know how you're doing!
