I am new to the gymnastics community. I have a 6 year old daughter (only child) who has been attending recreational classes fro about a year now. Shortly after her gym was sold to new owners we were approached about DD being evaluated for team. Following two evaluation sessions with multiple coaches they have recommended her for the USAIGC team. We were told to bypass the team prep class. Time and money are factors (not that I doubt DD's abilities but it honestly never occured to us that this would be a possibility so weren't really preparing for it) but DD really wants to compete! I have been told/read that under such circumstances that USAIGC is the way to go. I fully understand this is NOT the road to the Olympics but our gym does offer USAG and the option to switch if inclined and qualified.

I am supposed to receive our team packet either today or tomorrow with all the details. In the meantime I would love to hear from other parents, especially those of USAIGC athletes. Thank you so much for your time!
