We always let them finish the month, but most give notice just prior to leaving, so they usually don't come. Some have comen to say bay to teammates and staff and they have been welcome to do so.

That sounds very reasonable.

My gym has had a few people put in their 30 day notices and they have been told that they are not welcome back which I get why but I just hate for them to leave without saying bye to their friends and coaches :/

One gymnast that came to our gym from another one, told us that she wanted to go say bye and they let her but then they kind of scolded at her for leaving. I can't really understand that kind of behavior.
I understand sometimes it is very hard when you invest a lot on some athletes and they leave (I've felt it too), but I can't really understand being mean to them.
We've had some girls leave because they felt they weren't being paid a lot of attention or progressing well and some even came back after some years.

The only time a gym is really "okay" with someone changing gyms is if they are relocating (selling house, states away etc) otherwise it's just nasty and I would never inform a gym I was moving until I was out the door...BTDT. Gyms will "say" they're ok with it but don't belive them and protect yourself and your kid...tell no one, not even your friends, until you are gone....kids can connect with text/social media/ IG so they'll be able to say goodbye after the move is made.

We have had many girls leave our gym. They get to say goodbye, and we always hope their last practice is a great one.
We had one girl leave because her dream was to compete in college, and there was no way we could get her there. She moved to a gym that could help make that happen (one of our gymnast's mom was a coach there). The girl left after her successful Level 4 season. She repeated Level 4, a year of Level 5, a year of Level 7, and 2 years at Level 8. This season, she scored out of Level 9 and finished the season as a Level 10. She did have to work through injuries this year, so she only competed 2 events at Regionals. She is on track to fulfill her dream of competing in college.
Other girls leave for other gyms, but they usually end up quitting gymnastics completely, switching their focus to cheer, or coming back to us.
No animosity. No rudeness. Positive vibes only.
