Women How many gyms in the country?

Someone asked me and now I'm curious. Any idea how to find out? If I had to guess I'd say we have about 20 in my small state.

As of 2012 there were 2,083 clubs registered with USA Gymnastics. These aren't all necessarily gyms, and there might be some gyms that aren't registered with USAG. But that should give you a pretty good estimate.

Why would there be so many private clubs that are not members of USAG?

because they are rec programs. they have nothing to do with competition.
