Gymnasts How to clean competition leotard?

I just got accepted into an Xcel Silver Team, they are giving me my leotards tomorrow. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to clean the leotard though, I don't think I can just throw it the washer. Any advice on how to clean it?

Check with the manufacturer. Ours can go in the machine, but only on a cool wash, turned inside out, and put inside a pillowcase.

What type of material is it and are there crystals/gems on it? My kid's comp leos always had gems so I would hand wash them, put them in a clean towel and squeeze out the excess water and then hang to dry.

I’ve been washing competition leos for 15 years now and I always just turn them inside out, wash on delicate and hang dry. Never had an issue, even with super expensive bling-covered leos.
