Dd is part of a small level 4 team this year. Last year their level 3 team had 11 girls and they weren't extremely close, but they were pretty good friends. Most had competed level 2 together and the parents all got along and did stuff together occasionally. But since the end of last season and this one, they lost 7 of them, leaving only 4 of the original. They gained 2 in the past few months, so they are now at 6. They also lost their 2 coaches (one moved away and the other had to focus on their full time job and family) and have 2 new coaches that are good, but are much stricter and not as much "fun" as their level 3 coaches were and one doesn't speak much English. So, bottom line, it's been a rather difficult 6 months for them.
So now that meet season is starting, I don't think there is much of a sense of team anymore. The girls are friendly and the parents get along, but they don't really seem very supportive of each other and they don't seem very close. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to build team spirit and help them bond? I think that a few of the girls in particular would really like a more team like feel, but they don't know how to get there. One of the teammates that left was really the heart of the team and after she left, it's just been different. Thanks!
