I started reading a book by Peter Vidmar that has a section for parents on raising gymnasts. There was an interesting quote I found in it. It's simple, I know, but I thought it was a great way to say it:

"The athletes must own their own goals; their parents can't own the goals for them."

That's awesome! Yes, they must own this sport; it's theirs, not ours! Thanks for sharing . . .

Wonderful quote. I have had to realize this on my own. As much as I want daughter to get her skills fast, she isn't going to pick up quickly. But when she does through determination and hard work and dedication to the sport they are BEAUTIFUL. She moves at her own pace and speed. these are her goals.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
