hi im a level 8 gymnast and im a sophomore ive reached a point in my gymnastics career where i no longer feel i can reach college gymnastics based on where im at now with my skills, my age at a gym without a big coach to spot and without a pitt, and the coaching. There is a gym about 30 minutes from where I live with all the thing my current gym doesnt have where i could excell with alot of work. but all their gymnast are really young and I dont think I want to give up my social life and drive over there 5 days a week. So im highly considering quitting. The goal was for me to at least be a very good level 9 by the time my senior year rolls around so i might have a slim chance at being a walk on at a small d1 school. I no longer see that happening considering my situation.
So my point is, Ive been state bar champion 3 years in a row 2 years level 7 and one year of level 8. If I could just persue bars I could focus enough on it to make it to level 10 by my senior year and score really high on it. My thinking is, a lot of gymnast in college may only compete one or two events any way, if i was just competing bars I could possibly go to this gym thats 30 minutes away because I wouldnt have to drive down their as much considering im only practiceing one event. I wouldnt be able to qualify for state, regionals, or national considering i wouldnt have an all around score but I could find some big meets to compete at score really high scores that would empress colleges send in some videos and possibly be on a college team
I dont know of any gymnast who have this.
Am i being realistic?
