Hey, parents. My 7 year old daughter is fairly picky about clothes, including leotards. She doesn’t like anything scratchy or uncomfortable at all. She’s neurotypical but definitely that kid that can’t handle tags, tight jeans, the seams on her socks being crooked, etc. At the gym, she only wears GymGear right now. Her comp suit is Quatro and she has to have a little cry every time she puts it on before she can accept it. Anyway, I digress. I was eyeing Sylvia P for my second daughter who is less picky and my older daughter asked for one too. For those who have Sylvia P, do you think my picky kid would like them? Also, would sizing with GymGear be similar?

Oh man my daughter is the same age and the same way and we had Quatro comp leos last year. You can buy leotard liners that give a softer layer underneath.
She has a Sylvia P practice leo and she loves it. So soft and stretchy and the fit is great at least on her.
No help with the gym gear sizing equivalent though as she’s never worn it.

Not what you asked, but in case it’s helpful, my daughter’s competition leo is always so uncomfortable as well. Two things that have helped us:

1. Having the sleeves lined with a nude hosiery-like material. I don’t know what your competition leo is like, but ours always has mesh sleeves with tons of rhinestones that prick my daughter’s skin whenever she moves. The lining matches her skin tone, so you can’t tell that it’s lined. I was nervous to hand the leo over to a seamstress, but through a figure skating shop I found someone who makes figure skating costumes and is used to working with these types of delicate garments.

2. Applying Dr. Frederick’s Original Better Blister Blocker (purchased on Amazon) before competitions anywhere the seams of the leo meet her body (leg openings, neckline, etc.). My daughter does not like the feeling of the mystique fabric on her skin and says this helps her tolerate it.

Thank you! That is very helpful.

Oh, thank you! My daughter won’t have sleeves until she gets to optionals but I’m looking up the Blister Blocker. The neckline in particular drives her crazy.
