Well DD was moved up mid season to level 6. Not sure how I feel about this. She only did 5 meets at level 5 all scoring 34 - 36. She has her level 6 skills although some are not so great. I have mixed emotions if this was the right thing to do. I think the plan is to go in next season as a level 7 (fall of 2011). She is 10 1/2.

What do you think about moving up mid season?

I think 5 meets is a pretty normal full season for many level 5s, so if the skills are there with good form and confidence, I don't see a problem with the move. Especially considering she can always repeat level 6 in the fall if the level 7 skills just don't come together in time.
My thoughts on mid-season move-ups are kind of all over the place based on the individual child. For a child who has the skills and who will be motivated even more by lower scores/placements in a higher level than consistently placing in the lower level, I think it can be a beneficial move. As well as for older kids, girls who struggle with the rigidity of compulsory routines, those kinds of circumstances. I would be against it in situations where the child had nagging fear issues, would be better served with a few more incredibly successful meets in terms of confidence building, or who would be more stressed out by the more rapid progression than benefit from it.
How does your dd feel about the move? If she is all for it and her coaches recommended it, I don't think you should worry too much.

I think if she has the skills and is scoring that high at L5 then it probably is for the best. Trust your coaches until they give you a reson not to. If she gets her L7 skills over the summer I think at 11 yo she will do fine. From what I can see 11-13 seem to be an average age for L7 so it shouldn't be awkward for her at meets.

Thank you. I love getting other's thoughts.

My DD is thrilled to move up. She thinks she is ready and is eager to keep learning new skills.

Good luck to her!!! We have a couple of L6's who are moving to L7 after this weekend's meet. The thought is to let them compete the rest of this season (6 more meets) as 7's and then maybe get them to 8 in the fall. These girls were scoring 36+ at L6 and clearly ready to move up! I say...good for them and good for your DD! On to bigger and better things!
