Arizona and Arizona State are really bringing it! Georgia fell apart on beam but they're not out of it yet.
Last time Georgia fell apart and had 3 falls and cost them moving forward in NCAAs cost Jay Clark his job....but he "failed" up! I am surprised at what a wild card Kara Eaker is and now that she has fallen twice on that mount (that she doesn't even need) hopefully it gets removed from her routine going forward.

They gave Kupets a ton of time though so I'm inclined to think they'll want to see what Cecile (and Ryan) can do.

Oh I'm not suggesting they fire Cecile! I think she's done a great job with Georgia, except maybe with Eaker...I might have pulled her out of line ups when she was getting less reliable...she was an elite gymnast so Cecile has dealt with that type of athlete but on the whole, you can tell she coached before. I think Kupets just wasn't ready to become a Head Coach of any team, never mind that she set tons of records at UGA, because she had never coached before....bring her in as an assistant and do the Jordyn Wieber progression but that whole scenario when Kupets was hired had disaster written all over it from the get go.

Eaker also had a whole year off of competing before this. Definitely a team to watch coming up though.

What is up in Seattle though? So many falls in the first semifinal and now Nebraska with two beam falls and Auburn on bars.

The shocking thing to me in Seattle is that Oklahoma didn't break 9.9 on any vault, and they shouldn't have ....Yeah there have been more falls than I would have expected but maybe pressure got to people.

The other thing I noticed is judges not giving connection to series on beam that are not connected, a la Lily Smith from UGA ...definitely not connected. It's about time.

They haven't really put vault together yet this year. And vault scoring has been pretty tight here.

MSU really was better. LSU was way overscored on vault especially.
My daughter and I were both saying that...it felt like a Super Six ...it was so exciting..nice to see MSU advance and I think Joscelyn goes as AA for Arkansas ,....she looked great!

The Utah meet so far doesn't have that same zip ...at least not yet

Denver is losing it on their vault rotation..
And Utah's floor routines are baffling...they have Grace (and others) doing a tucked full in (E pass) and she goes 9 .975 and then Gilstrap does 2 passes that seemed like level 8 to me: front layout -front 1.5 and front layout-front full ...and goes 9.95!! Why wouldn't everyone do that?

The floor scoring is...something else. It's wild how big the difficulty range can be.

There's a range in difficulty of routines (E pass vs Front full-front lay) but the scoring does not reflect it.....when my daughter was competing NCAA , at least one pass had to be a double back. They downgraded vault to a YFull being a 9.95 start so I think they need to overhaul the code for floor too...like if you have a 2 pass routine, one needs to be an E pass or it has a 9.95 SV...and if you have 3 passes, it can be a 10.0 SV but there can't be level 8 passes or you would get an "up to the level " deduction because by the time you get to NCAA, your passes should be college level...and maybe like skating does, bonus for doing passes with double salto in the last 30 seconds of the routine versus Oklahoma doing their 2 passes in the first 20 seconds and the rest of the routine is dancing and leaping and rolling on the floor...KJ uses the code to her advantage but those routines are boring as heck.
