Has anything been released for the new Ontario rules?

I have heard nothing. Did you ask at the gym. These changes will be interesting.

So far the gym is not talking about them. Very curious as to what they will be?? Rumor is Level 4 requires a kip.

That would probably be true, the new USAG L4 requires a kip and the Ontario system is supposed to be modelled on it now.

Our head coach has said that nothing is finalized yet, but that levels 5+ will be very similar to USAG new levels, with compulsory skills but remaining optional routines. They are still debating whether to make levels 4- compulsory routines like in the US. Owners and coaches feel it will really hurt the sport in that those Invitational level girls won't want to switch to compulsory routines. The point of the changes really was to give Provincial (5+) level girls the opportunity to travel to the US for competitions. Many Invitational level gymnasts wouldn't be travelling for meets anyway so making them equivalent to the US would hurt more than help.

I agree that changing over to compulsory routines would be a bad move. Girls will just leave as it is just not the way things are done here in Canada.

It will definitely hurt the smaller town gyms since they have a smaller pool of people to choose from. The Interclub programs will suffer a lot.

A friend of mine from another club just mentioned that her coach just received the new rules...and she was grumbling already
There is no way that coach would ever give her that document...
