So funny. I only read this as Oregon State but that's probably because I'm in Washington state. I don't have any experience with the camp though.
I only even think about Oregon State because of Jade Carey.
I wanted to attend the Ohio State University beginning in 2nd grade.
At that point, nobody in my family had ever gone to college. I wanted to play football (and baseball in my off-season) for the Buckeyes. I did attend Ohio State and even lived inside the walls of the football stadium my freshman year (ΣΣΔ - Stadium Scholarship Dorm).
If I would have known that the gymnastics team competed "across the street" and was free for students, I would have attended every home meet that year.
My first college meet wasn't until after OG and YG had been on their gymnastics team for a while, and we went as a group. Since that first meet, I have gone to at least one meet a year (until this year - prices are crazy).

You left out the that the stadium dorm *didn’t have windows in the dorm rooms*! I once spent a week there. I don’t know how you survived a full academic year.

I was in a triple that had windows (they just didn't open). Of course, our outside wall was slightly curved. I got tired of hitting my head on the metal bar from the top bunk ... and one of my roommates wasn't around much, so my other roommate and I rearranged he room. We wanted to use the outside wall for all 3 beds with the top bunk suspended over the ends of both of the other beds. They wouldn't fit on that wall, so we had to put them on the inside wall ... and if anyone opened the door too hard, it would hit my bd, lol. We each had our own area with the set-up, and even though the other roommate wasn't happy that we did it without consulting her, she liked the privacy she had at the back of the room.
At the other end of our unit, the window was in the hallway, right beside the "emergency door" that led into the stadium. I would sit the TV on the window ledge and watch the home football games on TV while listening to the cheers from the crowd.
