I have a meet this Sunday (Dec 8 2024), and I have practice the Saturday right before that which is tomorrow Dec 7th. I’m not sure if I should go because I feel confident in everything expect my beam dismount was changed last minute to something I haven’t done in a while and I haven’t done my full turn on beam last practice at all, and everything else is fine expect I got a rip on my hand so I’m not sure if I could do bars tommorrow, and if I can’t I might get scratched if I can’t do my dismount before the meet or my top half, so I want it to heal before the meet. I also don’t want to be sore because usually after practice I’m pretty sore and something always hurts lol, but I’m really debating this, should I just take an off day at home to rest and prevent injuries or further injuries so I can just stay home and rest, or should I go and get the extra practice in.

If you feel confident in your ability to do well at the meet, then its better to rest.

Practice right before a meet is usually about helping you to feel as confident and prepared as possible, and not about doing a ton of reps and conditioning. I would go and talk to your coach about your concerns and what you can do to feel your best. It sounds like you could use extra time on beam - maybe see if it would be possible for you to do more work on a line or low beam, or jump in with another group, and minimize your time on bars so you don't aggravate your rip.
