Try scuinci gel/ rubber hair ties they work excellent I have the same problem! You can find them at walmart in rainbow colors and some have glitter!

They stay in really well, just make sure you unwind the hairband when you take it out instead of just pulling on it or all of your hair will come out with the hair tie.
You can buy them at cvs and target.

I used to use those gel hair ties for my DD, but I found after a few months she had a lot of flyaways. It was breaking off her hair, so we've switched back to regular. If it gets loose in practice either she or her coach just redo the pony.
