Have fun and ride some rides.

One year at nationals, we did not expect my son to make finals. We were in Orlando and had purchased Universal tickets for the day after prelims. He made finals. We went to Universal. He competed the next day and was 10th aa.

He remembers more about that day at Universal than the nationals. Make the memory!

Ahh, my kid goes to a travel meet that's two days with a day off between. The girls always make the finals (it's a team event) on day one, then spend the day off at an amusement park, and then crash and burn on day two.

It never occurred to me that there could be some sort of vestibular effect - I was assuming it was more about excitement, andrenalin and fatigue. Every year we talk about taking the middle day easy next time, but then every time we end up choosing fun over common sense. I don't think there are any regrets!

So we’re at Mall of America for regionals and my gymnast wants to go on the amusement park rides, but I’m worried it could have an effect on her vestibular system. I always remember feeling like my bed is moving after being at an amusement park. She competes tomorrow afternoon. Any advice?
My kid went on the rides at the Mall of America the day before winning regionals, and went 6 flags the day before having an amazing meet in TX.

Lots of other gymnasts were doing the same. I don’t think it’s an issue unless a kid is known to have difficulty tolerating rides.
