We had six gymnasts here at the house watching it. Really rough. I hope it was a clean break and he recovers soon, but so heartbreaking for him after missing 2012 due to injury.

Toba. Wow. After the knee injury on his first floor pass, he somehow managed to pull himself together and competed PH for his team. He did his dismount taking his weight on the uninjured leg. Posted his team's highest score on that event, allowing them to leave a 13 on the table -- and Germany qualified into team finals in eighth place by only a little more than a point.

I didn't know he missed the last Games, too. How awful... Sending good thoughts his way.

And I don't know Toba personally but than man gained my undivided admiration yesterday. I can't even begin to imagine how it must have felt to compete with a torn ACL, a damaged medial meniscus and not to forget the reality in mind that Rio would be over for him after that routine.

well, I was wrong on them showing mostly US as well..

I know!!!! I actually was like, frustrated for a second!!! Then i figured out how to watch each rotation separately and catch the US guys......sorry, but I think I need to complement NBC [emoji87]....did I just say that?
We even got to see my sons old team mate who competed for his country! So exciting!

As curious as I was, I took all your advice last night, and I did not seek out the video. But wouldn't you know, it appeared on my news feed on FB this morning. Its the first thing I saw. As I scrolled through it started to play, I knew what was coming, and I couldn't.look.away. Poor guy, I hope they've been able to successfully manage his pain.

I wonder if he had any idea it was going bad as he was executing the vault and just went for it because of the circumstances. I'd go back and look more closely to see where it may have gone wrong but I just can't.

All I can say is that is exactly what my DD did about 20 months ago, on a tsuk. I didn't see her break it is since she was at practice, but I certainly saw her leg afterwards.

I still can't imagine how much pain breaking two bones like that causes.

My DD had surgery and her bones healed beautifully (although got an infection) and has been back for awhile. I hope and pray for a smooth recovery for him.
