I'm just curious how the state teams work. I see on the USAG site that "the state teams consist of the top 8 athletes from each state. (top 4 scores counting for team)." I'm not really clear on what that means. Does the state team compete at a different time at Regionals or is it jsut that their scores count towards the state team.

Thanks for helping me understand this!

It is a separate session at regionals just for the state teams. The gymnasts still compete like normal in that session for individual placements, but instead of representing their gym in the team part of the awards, they represent their state. They get special gear (leotard, etc) too.

Is this for Excel as well?
