I was wondering if any other gyms do team bonding??? If you do what do you guys do?

On my team we have gone shopping together, had team sleepovers at the gym and at other peoples houses, and we have had team parties. Also this summer we did beach workouts with the boys team, which was a lot of fun .We did like 2 hours of condidtiong, played in the water, and then played volleyball. It was a ton of fun and the teams are sooo close. One of the boys told my coach that he would risk his life for one of us, and this was before he really even knew us.

Do you think it is important to have team bonding/activities?

I think it is really important to have team bonding, because you spend so much time with them in the gym you dont want everybody not getting along.

What are your opinions?

Optinals rocks!!

I totally agree. My team always goes shopping or out to eat together, and has sleepovers. Since we spend so much time together at the gym, it seems good to be friends outside the gym and have normal, unrelated to gymnastics, typical girl conversations :) However, I also think too much time together can lead to drama and disagreements. But overall, I love spending time outside the gym bonding and hanging out!

I think team bonding is SO important. I have great memories of different team bonding activities we did at my gym, and I know I always treasured the close bond I had with my teammates (who, to this day, are some of my very best friends). We always had team sleepovers, either at the gym, at a teammate's house, and even at a coach's house once. We also did river rafting, water balloon fights, and other fun stuff. I think bonding activities are very beneficial to obtaining that strong, encouraging, connected team dynamic that helps gymnasts perform their best, and it's also just nice to be able to spend time with your teammates outside of the gym every now and then.
