Children require 9-11 hours of sleep per night, depending on their age...
That said, all you need to do is tell your child that she must sleep OR go to bed an hour earlier the following night. If you have a child that wakes up with a negative attitude, that one hour rule works too.. Follow through...no threats allowed, just strait-forward rules.
A set EARLY bedtime is for the parent's benefit. There's nothing better than watching a movie without screaming children running about. Basic building blocks for a happy family.
If you want good advise...forget the therapist!, just ask your Mother or Grandmother. Listen to them, you may learn something & it won't cost you a dime.

so she is 11yo - could be hormonal. Those mood swings are so common for those girs entering puberty. For us when our DD was 11 bed time was changed from 9pm to 10 pm like your DD she was laying there for hours not sleeping anyway. the change is bed time seemed to help. She still lays there for a bit but falls asleep much faster. At 9:30 she has to start the getting ready for bed with teeth brushing, PJs etc. then she can watch TV in her room until 10pm or read a book or what ever. It wasn't easy to consider the 10 pm bed time so we gave it a try and it has worked out for us. Gives her at least an hour to spend time with us before she goes to bed and relax with us.

I don't know much about the operation of homeschool so I am asking why is there homework? Wouldn't you just teach that subject and get through all the work needed for it so there isn't homework? Just trying to understand how it works - no judgement intended here. Can you give us an example of how a typical home school day goes?

It is all about time management. My DD has always been in a traditional school with a traditional school schedule. She is home by 2:30pm she comes in gets ready for gym and we are out the door by 3:30 pm she gets home about 8:30 - 9:00 pm depending on the night. she has WEd and Sundays without gym. somehow she finds the time at school on the bus ride home etc to have homework all done before she has to go to gym. She is a straight A student in excelerated classes.

Cher, I have to say I am jealous!! My DD gets great grades, but the homework and sleep is a challenge. Our school does not provide any time to get a jump on homework, other than skipping recess, but it is a short period of time anyway. DD was up until 10:30 last night. So there are nights when she is not getting the proper amount of sleep. We just try to make up for those nights by getting to bed a little earlier on the nights she doesn't have gym or sleeping in on Sundays. I think it can be a challenge for kids who train a lot or have a less than ideal practice schedue.
