Which is harder, a tucked flyaway or a piked flyaway? Why do one verses the other? Thanks!

Tucked flyaway (for me at least and most people I know) are a lot easier than piked flyaways

I don't think I've ever seen a piked flyaway that was meant to be piked (other than pikey layout flyaways)

I honestly don't teach piked flyaways... so I would say tuck or layout flyaways are easier. Have we had gymnasts do them... sure... double pikes also. I just don't like them and see no benefit... so we don't do them. I have had people tell me that they teach double lays from double pikes... I don't agree with this method... at least in women's gymnastics.

My son’s coach makes them start with an open pike flyway because it is supposed to make it easier to progress to harder dismounts. Either way, flyaways are very easy. People build them up in their heads but they are not hard at all. If you can do a back tuck on a trampoline, you can do a flyaway.
