OK, so after our level 5s and 6s compete State, we will be switching them over to xcel for the spring. Since I have a dancing background I have been volunteered to do their routines. I know all the rules for xcel, and I know how to choreograph for a show, but what is the difference in a gym floor routine. Are there moves that judges like or don't like to see? Just looking for ideas.

Look at video from the past.....way past, like from the early to late 70's for dance combinations and positions. Those years include enough examples, aren't "packed" with so much difficulty (dance wise) that would be beyond your group, well maybe , and provide good examples of traditional positions and poses. Just don't get bored with the tumbling passes prior to 1979.

Beam deductions

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some help understanding my deductions on beam. I’ve been watching my videos back, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly where the judges are taking the most off. If anyone is willing to take a look and give me some feedback, I’d really appreciate it. I’m especially curious about execution deductions, rhythm/connection issues, and anything in my acro or dance that might be costing me. The judge started me at a 10 for this routine, and I got a 9.1
