Can’t relate because I refuse to work at gyms with weak leadership. No gym is perfect, but I am always willing to walk away from a gym that has an unhealthy work culture.
Of course—as the OP mentions—you only get what you give. If I notice gaps in process, unprofessional behavior, etc., my first reaction is to “be the change I want to see in the world.” It’s amazing how much you can improve a dysfunctional work environment by simply being a good role model. Leading by example works with kids and (most) adults.
