Don’t think about it when you aren’t doing it. Your brain can’t 100% comprehend it and you will confuse yourself. You have to trust your muscle memory and do it over and over.
At home, focus on stretching, conditioning, and (if you have a routine, particularly compulsory) perfecting Choreography. Leave the skills for the gym.
I struggle with that too. I think what helps is framing it in my mind before hand, making realistic goals for myself. Not ‘I want to place xxx’ but ‘I want to score xxx because I’ve done it before, or because I’ve improved on this. It’s hardest when I mess up on something that I know I can do.
I do! I’m rather competitive, so I enjoy that aspect as well. I have my pre-meet routines, and just focus on doing the same stuff that I do in practice.
I’ve found that gymnastics helps regulate me mentally. It gives me something to focus on, an outlet, it soothes me. I get to focus inward and control my own body and learn more about the sport that I love.
This would depend on how old you are. If you’re 12 and above, you can send videos of your skills to your state chair, and petition in 7. If you are younger, you would need to score out of 5 and 6.
While I am familiar with the rules and policies surrounding petitioning, is anyone familiar with the turnaround time?
I’m hoping to send in the petition by the end of the week. We have a potential move-up meet in a month, that I would like to use to score into 8, is it possible to get a...
First things first, is this job or volunteering?
Second, this sort of thing might be covered under ADA which protects against discrimination due to disability. I’m not a lawyer, so I can’t say if this counts, and I don’t think it would be worth pursuing.
Third, as a coach and a gymnast with...
Bars:
You need a clear hip that gets within 45 degrees of handstand.
You’ll also need to do a second clear hip and a flyaway
Beam:
You’ll need the same dance as in platinum (full turn, 155 split, dance series)
A salto/areial dismount
Floor:
You need a B salto, I.e a front pike, back half or...
I had an okay meet. Had big wobble on beam, but came out alright, I was struggling in warmup anyway. Floor was a bigger disappointment, I was sticking a landing in warmup, but took several steps in comp. Those’d tenths put me in fourth AA instead of third. Vault … was vault. And bars went amazing!
I don’t currently have access to a code, and I can’t remember this for the life of me. In Dev, the split angle in a backwalkover must be the required angle for leaps/jumps for that level. Does this apply to xcel as well?
I would say yes, we’d move you right up. We’d spend the summer working on that clear hip, a flight skill on beam (to have options), and just some other general upgrades and cleaning up.
