    Gymnasts Side somi help

Hi, my coach wants me working on a side somi but I am lost; I end up doing sort of a weird bent legged butterfly kick (so like my chest is facing the ground instead of straight out) or I just hop feet and get no airtime and I can't figure out how to actually flip. I don't have a pit to practice...

Gymnasts Dive roll flight on beam?

woah! thanks for the suggestion; that would honestly be so cool, i hope my coach'll let me try it. do you know of any drills i could do to train the connection?? okay, this has me thinking. should I try working a standing front tuck (or one step hurdle) on the beam?? would that be easier than...

oh, I didn't know that! I'm from Illinois, do you know the rules for this state?

Gymnasts Dive roll flight on beam?

hmm, I think it should work then? different states though so it might not, but i think most states follow nfhs rules, so if the judges counted it for flight(do u know if they did?) it probably works for me too. we have no one competing dive rolls so there isn't really a reference for us as to...

Gymnasts Dive roll flight on beam?

unfortunately a dive cartwheel won't give bonus :( it gives flight but for connection bonus, it just counts as a regular cartwheel for us. the roundoff is a good idea though! I'll bring it up with my coach, thanks!!

Gymnasts Dive roll flight on beam?

high school gymnastics 😭 my coach wants me doing a flight series for bonus, but it's not strictly a requirement; we just need any acro series. we do need flight which I'll get through my fhs (I already compete it) but not sure if it's worth learning the dive roll connection if it's not flight...

Gymnasts Dive roll flight on beam?

Hi! I need a forward acro flight series on beam and I was thinking of doing a fhs into a dive roll? Would the dive roll count as flight?

    Gymnasts Front Toss struggles

Hi, I’m trying to learn a front toss to put on the beam, but I can’t figure out how to get height while also dropping my chest to my knee at the same time. Can’t do a front aerial due to bad back flexibility. I keep landing in a sit; it’s like I just drive straight into the ground. Does anyone...

Gymnasts BHS on beam hand placement struggles

Hi! I’ve been working my BHS SO on low beam but but I cannot for the life of me get my hands together, not even on the floor (our coach teaches one hand in front of the other, both palms on top of the beam). Does anyone have any drills?? If I manage to get them together(almost never happens) I...

Gymnasts Learning RO BT vs RO BHS BT

Thank you everyone for the advice! I will be making the switch to RO BT. Does anyone have any tips/drills I can do to help my roundoff rebound straight up so I can set? Because I’ve been doing RO BHS BT for a while, my rebound tends to move backwards as well, and I would really appreciate some...

    Gymnasts Crooked roundoff help!

Hi, my roundoffs are driving my coach and I both majorly nuts(for context, I’m a lefty tumbler and go crooked to the left). When I do them from a one step-hurdle, they are fine and go straight. When I do my RO BHS BT(spotted) the pass goes straight as well when I start like that. HOWEVER, if I...

Gymnasts Learning RO BT vs RO BHS BT

Hi, I’ve been in the process of working on my RO BHS BT, but I’ve had some painful back issues over the past few years and it mostly stems from power tumbling and bending my back a lot. I’m wondering if it’s a good decision to abandon the bhs entirely when tumbling and work on a RO BT, so that I...
