My daughter competed L4 last year and had 2 girls on her team that had moved from Xcel Silver that did well. Another girl tried to move over but didn't like it, so she competed Xcel Gold and I believe is planning to switch to L4 this year instead. I think the advice you've gotten is spot on as...
Thanks! I actually just talked to her coaches yesterday, and they said she'll be competing L5-L6 this year. She's a very strong tumbler and can complete the L6 tumbling routines, although she still has some work to polish them. She's still getting used to the trampoline and double mini, and...
Ours varied by level, not so much age.
USAG DP L2=7hrs, L3=10hrs, L4=12hrs, L5=15hrs, L6-7=18hrs, L8-10=20hrs
USAG Xcel practices fewer hours, but I don't know their schedules.

Our state meet was held in a city that also has a large gym. Those family members cheered SO loudly for every girl on the team after every event, and it was really a distraction for some of our girls.
No, typically our girls will compete 5 but skip L6. ♀️ Our pre-team does L1, then we compete L2 and up. Our girls go into a L3 season with solid L3 skills (able to score 9 and up) most meets, but most don't have solid L4 skills until near the end of L3. My L3 daughter probably has all of her L4...
During the meet season, our girls may work on some skills from the next level, but primarily they work on perfecting skills from the current level. For example, our L3s will sometimes, but not every practice, work on their kips on bars, double BHS on floor, and cartwheel on beam.
