Is it normal for kids to be emotional the day after a competition?
The competition was great but the next day DD was having a hard time with life and needed extra TLC. Wondered if this is common?
So we had the meet today and she enjoyed it plus she got 3 ribbons so that was a nice surprise! She walked all hunched over to do her floor routine but then performed it the best I have ever seen her do it and got her highest placing for it!
Thank you everyone for your advice and support it...
DD had her competition today and her floor looked the best it ever has. She was a little ahead of the music and stood waiting for a second for the music in one spot and one of her cartwheels was not quite as pointy as usual but she scored well on it so that was a pleasant surprise!
So at the competition today she ended up with last years coach being with her flight group and DD did her "vault" roll for the first one that coach said tighten up and run faster and boom her straight back vault is back and it ends up being her best placing of the day!
Thank you for all the replies! It is good to hear your ideas. I will not be coaching her at home but wanted to understand why her previously solid vault has become a roll and what a normal timeline would be for it improve again.
My DD had a nice straight back flip when doing "vault" for the past 3 years. I say "vault" because it was the bronze vault where basically they jump on the springboard and then flip onto the mat but it was very good. Now this year she is folding in the middle or just straight out doing a roll. I...
I dont have advice but I don't want to say "wow" to your dedication to your career. I love that you are invested enough to your craft that you are willing to put in all that time and effort to learn and grow. Your students are lucky to have such a wonderful coach!
My DD had that problem at 6. She was like "that coach is always telling me what to do." We had to explain to her that is literally the coaches job. She was skeptical but she ended up loving that coach by the end of the year.
Personally we have had 4 little stars outfits. Out of the 4, one of them was quite stiff and itchy but most girls loved it because of the sparkle. My DD has sensory issues and it was not her favorite but that is 1 kid out of 26.
We just got 2 new ones a week ago and they are sparkly, change...
Yes it is bronze so not high stakes. We have 4 groups at our gym and the other 3 groups routines look alot more polished. I know you should not compare but some of them make the audience want to watch them as they are really owning the floor and telling a story. All 42 girls "performed" their...
