Just came from DD practice and wow the emotions...not from the athletes or coaches but the parents? Everyone was getting along but there are some intense emotions about skills developed or not this year and expectations for next year....is this a normal phase of parenting a child in gymnastics...
I am wondering what the average expected time line and age most girls are for xcel bronze level?
I know there are some amazing athletes that skipped this level entirely and some that have stayed competing in this level at older ages because they like to compete but also love to do other...
Wondering how many children are in dance in addition to gymnastics? If so what type of dance?
Many gymnasts at our gym seem to be doing both even the kids that are already at the gym 16 to 20 hours a week.
Wondered if this is typical at other places?
Do you think ADHD could make it harder for child to learn and perform beam and floor routines? DD has always struggled with this and her school teacher has suggested an assessment for what she is seeing in class.
Thank you for all the different perspectives. At our gym the girls in Xcel compete in bronze but the girls at the same gym in the JO don't compete until they are at least level 3. Then we were at a competition and there was level 1 and 2 from other gyms competing JO so it was helpful to hear the...

I am wondering what the benefits are for girls to compete at the lower levels such as level 1 or Xcel bronze? Some gyms in our area do not take their athletes to competitions until Xcel Silver or JO 4. Others seem to want them to start competing frequently ASAP.

Will the girls who are up training be performing their new skills at state at the end of the month or they are up training skills for next year?
Wow a car and plane ride to get to a meet! Now I feel pretty lucky that we have so many close to us! I can see flying once they are at higher levels to get to important meets but never thought about flying to one at bronze level!
Wondering how to help with 7 year old Xcel bronze floor routine. They had 2 one hour private lesson with coach in Oct to learn it and maybe run through it once every 2 weeks for 5 minutes at practice. She seems to do well on the gymnastics elements such as pointed toes in cartwheel etc but...
