Women Wonky back handspring on beam - HELP!

Yes, I agree that re-learning the back handspring or doing hand placement drills would be the best option. On beam her hands are quite far apart, so try marking a spot where both hands go. That might help.

Women Wonky back handspring on beam - HELP!

Is it worse on beam? If so, it might be a mental thing. Try to get her to be as tight as possible and to square her hips. It might also help to pretend that she is in between two walls, although that mostly helps with going crooked. Has her back handspring always been like this?

    Parents Training group confusion

This also may be based on her age. If the girls in the gold group are way older than her, she may feel out of place. Additionally, she is only 6, and the minimum age to compete Xcel Gold is 7 years old. Has she competed before? I am not sure if you can go straight to Xcel Gold, and maybe the...

    Women Tips on skills

So I am in Xcel Gold, and I had my first meet in a while due to injuries this past Saturday. I did pretty good at my meet, but some of my skills need some work. My chest is always down in a lot of my skills, like my vault and my front tuck. I am twisting too early into my half-on vault, and my...

    Women Back Tuck

So when I do a standing tuck off of a mat, or onto a soft mat, my set is very high, and it is high if I do my tuck out of a handstand or cartwheel. When I tumble, or do a standing tuck on floor, I am setting into it kind of like a back handspring. It goes up, but not very high, and it is very...

    Women Half On Help

Hi, so I had practice today and I feel like my vaults were a little bit better. One thing I did was start a little farther away, but another thing was the amount of springs in the board. I feel like the less bouncy the springboard, the more control I have. Thanks for the tips!

    Women Back Tuck

So I recently got over my mental block in my back tuck. I had it last season and it was very high, but then I got injured and stopped practicing it. Now, I can do a RO BHS BT which is what I had a block on, and a standing tuck. But the problem is that I don’t really set in my back tucks. They...

    Women Half On Help

So my half on was pretty decent in my opinion in August, but when I went on vacation for a week or so and I came back to practice, my half ons have been terrible consistently. My arms always bend and I don’t really know why. My feet are also going over the side instead of going straight over my...

    Women Switching Gyms or quitting?

Hi, Recently at my gym there has been a lot more favoritism towards certain gymnasts. It is very obvious too. I feel like some gymnasts including me are being targeted. We get yelled at for doing things that other gymnasts can easily get away with. They're small things too like sitting down or...
