I think this is so difficult to convey in a forum like this. We have to try to remember that coaches are people too and I struggle with this also. My DD is shy and I sometimes feel that her coach has trouble relating to her and does engage with the others more, but I think it's because my...
This is certainly not ideal and I wish coaches would communicate more on a regular basis. This year has been fairly frustrating. There is one girl on my daughter's team that has struggled with alot of mental blocks. The vast majority of the coaches time to spot was dedicated to her with...
I would be more concerned about the amount of homework a 7 year old is getting vs 6 hours of practice a week. But if she doesn't enjoy going to practice , I don't know how switching to xcel would automatically fix that.
If you are spending hours at home and she is still not remembering it, did they make it too complicated? My DD was a little older than yours in bronze she was having trouble remembering so she drew little stick figures going through the routine and after that she was able to remember it all...
My DD is in her 4th year of being on a team and has only had 2 private lessons ever. This many private lessons and all these trials for a 7 year old seems a little crazy. And a gym pushing for privates to get to level 3 I would be suspicious of.
I don't think a year of bronze will derail her gymnastics future. Given the time of year I would see how she does with competitions and paying attention to the little details. Has she already learned routines? Does she enjoy her coaches and teammates?
"prior competitive experience in the Development Program" does this mean any level or only level 4 since that is the first required level? Also this won't work for those that were always xcel and trying to transition over.
As an observer I don't understand why you can't go the compulsory route with lower hours? My DD is currently planning on level 5 next year and will probably be at around 10 hours. Bronze was 5, level 3 was 8.5, level 4 was 9. She isn't an all star by any means but playing another sport is...
If finding out that the cost doubles a week ahead of time is going to cause a financial strain start prepare now as of it will happen. Understand alot more costs are associated with team than training fees. With coaches fees etc. Each comp is around 200. If it's a financial strain now it...
Thanks! I got some clarification that the complaint is the chalk on the bar feels wet. This may be in the category of too much water being used by others? Either way to solve on her own moving slightly to the right seems simple enough. And we will cross the getting grips bridge when a coach...
That very much could be part of it, possibly both can be true at the same time? Given the breakout of the training groups this year I think she is feeling a little ignored as well.
Talking to coaches is a skill we are working on :). It does sound like this is a plausible complaint though. I do see them occasionally wiping down the bar. Is that allowed in a competition?
My DD has her first level 4 meet coming up. They are running alot of routines in practice. She is now the only level 4 on her team without grips. She is complaining that when all the girls with grips use the bar, the bar gets really slippery from the water with chalk. It could be an excuse...
Nutterbutter has already responded
As already demonstrated you have no knowledge, and yet want to ignore any advice and proclaim wild things as fact. There is very little engagement with people like you. You aren't here to learn. Your child must be a national champion in something or it's...
