If finding out that the cost doubles a week ahead of time is going to cause a financial strain start prepare now as of it will happen. Understand alot more costs are associated with team than training fees. With coaches fees etc. Each comp is around 200. If it's a financial strain now it...
Thanks! I got some clarification that the complaint is the chalk on the bar feels wet. This may be in the category of too much water being used by others? Either way to solve on her own moving slightly to the right seems simple enough. And we will cross the getting grips bridge when a coach...
That very much could be part of it, possibly both can be true at the same time? Given the breakout of the training groups this year I think she is feeling a little ignored as well.
Talking to coaches is a skill we are working on :). It does sound like this is a plausible complaint though. I do see them occasionally wiping down the bar. Is that allowed in a competition?
My DD has her first level 4 meet coming up. They are running alot of routines in practice. She is now the only level 4 on her team without grips. She is complaining that when all the girls with grips use the bar, the bar gets really slippery from the water with chalk. It could be an excuse...

As already demonstrated you have no knowledge, and yet want to ignore any advice and proclaim wild things as fact. There is very little engagement with people like you. You aren't here to learn. Your child must be a national champion in something or it's...
I'm not being dismissive. You only want to hear what you want to hear. Even in rec gymnastics there are progressions that involve all 4 events. Bars are hard for some people and easier for others. My daughter is much better at bars and vault than floor and beam. But also I only put her...
Yes gymnastics is the right sport for a 6 year old that wants to try it. It's a rec class I would hope if they placed a kid in an intro level class and the child was ready to move up they would move them. You can read through multiple different threads that one event or another often holds...
As you noted gymnastics is more than just floor skills. Place your kid where the gym thinks is best. If your "fighting" for a higher level so your 6 year old won't be ahead in 1/4 of the class but will be behind in 3/4 of the class is that setting your daughter up for success?
This is the fate of almost any youth sport in America. It's all expensive. Space, equipment, coaches. Just be glad so far gymnastics competitions aren't stay to play. Where for the privilege to be allowed to play in the tournament your team already paid the entrance fee for you are...
Most level 3 skills can be competed in bronze they just don't have to be. The only exception I can think of is vault is different. For reference my dd did a year of bronze, half of that group went to silver the other half level 3.
The longer gym practices actually make it easier to facilitate other sibling activities. You can drop off, spend all that time at home with siblings/cooking/their activities. It's better than an hour or hour and a half practice that you stay for.
I wouldn't say Xcel is "meant to be a vehicle" it's just another path. Hours vary greatly gym to gym. But even if your goal is to get to level 6, my DD as a level 4 will be at 9 hours and her gym does not complete 5 so will go from 4 to 6.
