Yes the crying is difficult. On the one hand I don't want her to feel like I am forcing her to do gymnastics, but on the other hand I don't want her to give up because she's worried she's not good enough, when that is just not true.
My daughter did have some adjustment issues when she moved up...
She cried again yesterday before practice and said she didn't want to go, but once it was time to go to practice she was fine and went without an issue.
She is still tired by the end of practice, but seems to be adapting.
Thanks! I think you all were right. I think this just means a lot to her, so she was worried. She had her first couple of practices and did great!
She still has some adjusting to do. She's very tired by the end of practice, but doesn't complain at all about going. Even if it seems like all...
My 7 year old daughter was recently invited to team. She worked so hard and was so excited that she made it! Summer practices start soon. She's already had a couple of meltdowns, saying she can't do skills that she can do, worrying it will be too hard and just in general seeming very anxious...
What criteria do coaches use for choosing which track to start a gymnast on? Assuming a gym has both, how do they decide which girls are right for each?
Thanks that is helpful. I think my daughter takes corrections well. It is just frustrating to me as a parent that the coach lets her continue with her sloppy form. She has a bit better form on floor because that gets corrected. But the coach is always spotting someone on bars so doesn't focus on...
My daughter is in rec classes. She gets skills quickly, but her form is not great. For example, legs apart during her pullover and back hip circle. The coaches don't seem to be correcting her although they do praise the rare times she remembers to keep her legs together and toes pointed.
My...
My daughter is trying to work on her form especially for bars. She says she is squeezing her legs together but her feet are still apart. She showed me today and she's right. Her thighs and knees are squeezed tight together but her ankles and feet are still apart.
Would she get deductions for...
Mine is a picky eater, but probably gets enough protein because she only weighs 20 kilos. She loves milk - has 2 cups a day plus 2 bowls of cereal. That's probably 24 grams there. She also likes hard boiled eggs, but only eats the white part and with the current price of eggs, I can't stomach...
I spent some time on google last night and didn't see any gyms nearby with anything like that. There is one gym that goes to level 3. That doesn't sound like it would be more than another year or two until she maxed that out as well or am I wrong?
My daughter just turned 7 and is in the highest rec level at her gym. The next level is pre-team. She loves gymnastics and I think she would have the skills to move up soon, however competitive gymnastics is just not something we can afford. I'm not even sure she will get asked to pre-team...
