Xcel gold is the best path for her. She can continue to work on her Kip while learning higher skills. Xcel gold typically competes level 4-6 skills. Although Kip is not required, she will learn fly away, double bhc, cast handstand, etc. Next year when she is 12, with proper skills, she can be...
If this is the interpretation, it even makes less sense…many gymnasts transition from DP to xcel was because of the burnout, not getting the skills, loss of love, injury…with no clear prediction of going back into DP or when, and they are even deprived of the pride of competing xcel state? That...
This rule just doesn’t make sense to me. I feel some angry intention behind it. Like triaging kids early on for xcel and DP and asking kids to stick it out if they still want to be “DP material”, minimizing the benefits that the temp transition into xcel can provide to some kids, their mental...
I am speaking from the experiences I have from our region, which may be drastically different than yours. And it can be a testament of how strong xcel region can look like, coexisting with DP.
There is not a lot of intentional “put down” so everyone speaks, but the assumption is pretty clear on...
I feel a lot of mixed assumptions are made in this thread. What xcel does is to give a chance for more girls to progress on their own paths.
our region has a large and strong xcel presence…here is some myth debunking:
1. Many xcel programs are smaller than DP, although with fewer hours on...
wow i am honestly surprised by the tone of these comments here…no wonder many kids see xcel as “less than” and would rather end their gymnastics journey when DP doesnt work for them.
It is like damn it if you do, and damn it if you don’t. Xcel programs get criticized for training DP standards...
I hate to dwell on my unpopular opinion, but after following this thread for days, I genuinely think your daughter is just physically tired. Based on the info you provided, it honestly doesn’t sound like routine adjustment/friendship/critique issues, she is just plain tired after practicing for...
Her gym doesn’t have level 4, so competing a year is not an option. Their usag side is only in the built for a few years. The xcel kids trains appropriate hours for xcel (4 for bronze, 9 for gold), but very effectively since they have small teams on all levels. My kid will not make a stellar...
Thank you. That is the thing, as far as I learned, for the other girls it was a coach driven process to bypass. Parents didn’t know too much. I don’t want any backlashes. So far I haven’t seen any on these girls. All have competed at states and some regionals and progressed to higher levels...
The gymnasts I know were definitely under 12 and didn’t score out of 4&5. They transitioned from xcel/igc/AAU directly to 6. I am tying to figure out how it is “mandatory” but in reality doable and if there will be long term consequences?
I have seen this been done with gymnasts around me under 12, and my daughter is training 6 after competing xcel gold. I would love to find out what makes level 4/5 and scoring out “mandatory”?
1) it is that the usag site doesn’t allow registration of a level 6 without having level 4/5 scores...
