I have recently begun coaching a group of "advanced" 4-year old gymnasts who are on the track of joining pre-comp within the next couple years. They are all basically starting from scratch. My question is by age 5 or 6 what skills should they be progressing towards? Besides basic development of...
Hello ChalkBucket!
I'm from a club in a small town in Ontario, Canada. This club has a wonderful program and allows children of all ages to participate gymnastics. This club has served the community for over 30 years but unfortunatly we are just bursting at the seams!!!!!! In order to build our...
This all sounds awful! It is extremely frustating for me that parents/familly members, who have supported their children from day one, made huge sacrifices(including financially) just to get them to 2012 will possibly not even be able to watch live! UGH!!
I am also Canadian and I definetly hope we can qualify a team, I think if we can add some extra twists to our vaults to bump up the difficulty that would help.Hopefully Savona does hit and puts in her Dos Santos II. If team Canada shows up consistent and with more difficulty they will have a chance!
What are your thoughts on how team Canada will do at these coming championships? Do you think they have any chance in qualifying a team for 2012? Will anyone qualify for any EF? Your thoughts here....
Make sure they have an excellent tap swing and then start working on tap to you slowly showing them the right possitions and the pull they need to get around the bar. A good drill for this is to set up a incline having them lay with their toes at the highest point and their hands at the bottom...
Make sure you have the proper set and heel drive, also keep lifting with your chest and especially near the end. Keep working them up to panel mats and once you have that consistenly them you should be good to put them on beam.
Feel the set, lift high with your shoulders, block(as in pull up as high as you can) then pull your toes over your head with your butt squeezed. If you find that the landing kills your ankles you probably are landing short and need a higher set and faster rotation (also you may want to use mats...
Use mats, stack them under the beam and as you feel more comfortable take them out(Until your on the floor). Basically right now your facing a mental block (not a physical one) you can't let that voice in your head that says NO control your body, you do, so think only of your walkover and the...
