    Funny also is when parents tell people that they left on their own accord when really they have been asked to leave - and years later, when they gym hop AGAIN or just quit the sport entirely - people finally see the truth : )

    and why would the coach take anything out on the kid.... he is the one not allowing her to do the vault - it isn't like she is refusing to do it.... seems like a bad situation all around - how do the other kids handle this style of coaching

    If he won't let her vault until Friday and the state meet is sunday - then will she vault both friday and saturday - probably overdueing it and possibly risk more injury. seems smart to just do a simpler vault... a tsuk if she can is the same value and most kids who do yurchenkos can probably do...

    its great that so many clubs have these other options... my club has team or nothing to speak of quality.... once kids quit... they are gone and we never see them again

    Plus, I am assuming that this coach was brought in to replace an "old coach" who maybe left... and that is hard for kids too.... losing someone who maybe they really liked and who had got them pretty far. Seems unfair to make big changes when maybe they were already having a hard time adjusting

    ridiculous... who even cares what they are saying... they are sitting in their waiting room, which means that they are still paying customers of theirs - so they must not be too unhappy

    APEX has adult class on Tuesdays from 8 - 10 that gets very crowded - it is instructional but also a little like open gym

    Good thing u don't go to that other gym or she wouldn't be allowed to compete a handspring

    Yes, but there seems to be a difference in that this seems to be a new rule thrown at them - at least that was the impression i got from the original post - i could be wrong... and how long is the season - ours is almost over... states in march and three meets before then. sounds like these kids...

    That's a lot of numbers... if she keeps going like that she will either get it - or get injured - hopefully not! They are really nothing like each other although the body awareness for the flipping part would be the same so i think she would have an advantage there! good luck

    do they have this rule on other events or is it just vault do the kids do a lot of vaults by themselves in practice and they are just not ready or do they do thousands into a pit (love that by the way) have others talked to the coach - maybe there is power in numbers

    Seems unreasonable to me... especially if they are only working one vault. A handspring full is worth a 9.0 or 9.1 and there are plenty of other vaults that they could do safely if given the chance to work them. Some kids go years training a flipping vault before they are ready to compete...
