Ok, so anyone who has seen my posts knows that I have older gymmie (age 11.5, former L6, current Xcel Gold) and younger gymmie (age 8.5, Old 4 / New 3). You probably also know that on 2/26/12, we had gotten lost on the way to the meet... L6 OG got there and realized she had nail polish on her...
Hi there. I've been lurking around here for a while but I thought I would finally post. My daughter started gymnastics when she was 2. She's been in it a year and getting ready to move to the 3 year old class. Her teacher informed me today that she is progressing quickly and they want to start...
DD got to ring the bell for her FHC today. It isn't terribly consistent yet, but she really wanted this skill so has spent extra time on the bars. We are headed out of town and will miss a few practices so I let her go in today for an extra class and she did it! I'm almost sure she will need...
Can't help myself! I picked up DD last night and asked her my usual 2 questions, did you work hard for your coaches (she's 9) and did you have fun? She said yes to both... Then said she did a Weiler kip!
Pink and Fluffy made it onto the County level 5 team at trials yesterday and we are going to Saphire. Very pround of my little munchkin :-)

My (not quite) 2.5 year old climbed the rope after her gymnastics class on Saturday.... all the way up to the level of my head, all by herself. And I'm pretty tall -5'10"! I was surprised and impressed. My 4 year old still can't do that. She did ask me to help her down.
She climbs trees well...
Purplicious showed me her KIP!!!!!
she had told me a few days ago that she had gotten over the bar without help.
this one was pretty sloppy, and with lots of muscle, but hey, she has been working them for 2 months!
She showed me this at the end of practice......:D:D

You know those sessions when it looks as though the gymnastics fairy found a minute to sprinkle some dust over your child? Well my dd had one of those :)
The most fantastic one was her beautiful front handspring front somis, which she was landing very prettily, chest up and plenty of time, at...
Hello guys! It's been a while since I posted, been really busy! Lat time I think I told you guys that my dd was training to score out of level 7, after already scoring out of level 6, 2 months earlier. Well she didn't score out of 7, but had level 8 skills added to her level 7 routine, this...
So after much obsessing....my girl had repeated success with the long hang kip tonight!! Yay! And she is just millimeters away from the glide kip. She is one happy girl tonight....and Momma is just little proud. Considering she just started in gymnastics less than a year ago, I'm truly blown...
My daughter, who is 7,competed Xcel Gold (in our part of region 8 Xcel is just as competitive, if notmore so than compulsory). I believe thisis equivalent to Level 5. She startedoff the year scoring in the low 35’s but by the end of the season, at her last3 or 4 meets, she was scoring in the...
I just went to pick up 9-year-old DD from her rec class and noticed that team was up on beam, and that my 7-year-old gymmie was doing back walkovers on high beam! I saw her do 4 or 5 in a row, rock solidly! I know she is going to be so excited when she gets home :) She LOVES beam. I had no idea...
I just happened to come in to DD practice last night, turned around to see her do her first robhs 1/2 twist on the tumble track. She even landed on her feet and got a good job from the coaches :) She has been so excited to learn to twist. She wanted to try on her own. I said no, wait for your...
I find it amazing the difference a month can make in a child and the difference that being done with competition stress can make. My dd has went from being stressed out and scared of skills, to conquering those fears and even performing bigger skills. She came out of gym last night so happy...
Ok. Last I posted (I think), younger Gymmie missed qualifying for Nationals at her District Championships by less than a point after falling on her Front Hip Circle on bars... but with personal bests on bars, beam and floor (and beam was a best by 2.000 AND her first ever No-Fall).
Anyone going...
Most of the time sitting in the gym, as many of you know, is hours and hours of conditioning and frustration followed by that lightbulb that goes off when you least expect it. Well tonight was my daughters lightbulb moment :)
During her 5 hour training she seemed to pull off a standing back tuck...
my ds did a perfect cast, back hip circle , with undershoot. I think I wrote that right... I know this because his coach who doesn't just hand out praises when there is improvement to be made called it perfect! He also did three mushroom circles for the first time! So proud of my kids hard work...
DD has now advanced from beginner to Intermediate rec classes! =) woot woot. She is getting closer to pre team. Today was her first class in inter and she did really well. At one point the coach asked the girls to sit on the beam and hold their tushes off the beam and DD was the last one to let...
DS fractured his ankle right before state (Friday night before state meet on Sunday); but we didn't find out that it was more than "tweaked" until the day after the state meet (urgent care on Saturday said it wasn't broken and if sprained, it wasn't bad).
Anyway, since then he had been in a...
